Ginger Cinnamon Green Smoothie

This is my favourite green smoothie at the moment. It's sweet and fruity but with an added kick from ginger and cinnamon. Such a delicious and healthy start to the day!

This is also a great beginner's green smoothie as it tastes fruity and spicy, and not "green" at all. Spinach is generally a great green to begin with when starting to make green smoothies since it's so mild in taste and texture. Making green smoothies is a very simple way to get more veggies into your diet, and they can so easily be adjusted to taste. They can be made with lots of sweet fruit and only a small amount of mild greens, or made more hardcore with lots of greens like kale, romaine, cucumber, celery etc.

When you blend hemp seeds with water, as in this recipe, you get a sort of instant home-made milk which doesn't have to be strained. For an even creamier smoothie you could of course use any plant milk instead of the water.

Yesterday evening I ate an amazingly good Chinese dinner with friends. Today is a slow Saturday for me with feels nice and calming. Lots of tea, lots of books, lots of blankets. I'm also thinking of a hot bath and face mask later. There's something so lovely about those extra moments of self-love during the weekend. What are you up to?

Ginger Cinnamon Green Smoothie

Serves 1

1 tbsp hulled hemp seeds
1 tsp chia seeds
1/2 squeezed lemon
1/2 in (1 1/2 cm) fresh ginger
2 large fistfuls of baby spinach
1 cup (2 dl) water
2 ripe bananas
1/2 cup (1 dl) frozen mango
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/5 tsp (1 krm) vanilla powder

1. Blend the hemp seeds, chia seeds, lemon juice, ginger, spinach and water in a blender until smooth.
2. Add the rest of the ingredients and blend again until as smooth as possible. Enjoy!
