Green Beauty: Coffee Body Scrub

Ever since I began eating a more natural, vegan and organic diet I have made quite an automatic switch from conventional to natural products when it comes to body, hair and face care and also make-up and house cleaning products. Trying to eat a healthy diet but at the same time adding loads of chemicals externally simply doesn't make sense for me. Remember that our bodies absorb most of what we put on our bodies.

I made this body scrub yesterday afternoon and I'm already completely obsessed with it! I used it in the shower this morning and my skin is now silky smooth and soft. The coffee in the scrub stimulates the skin and the ground coffee beans gently exfoliates to remove dead skin cells. And the smell of coffee is also wonderfully energizing in the morning of course.

This recipe is based upon coconut oil, which I love for its softening and nourishing properties. I use it for moisturising my entire body after every shower, but also as a hand cream, hair mask, make-up remover and face oil. Preferably use virgin cold-pressed and organic coconut oil.

Rub in the scrub all over your body and then rinse with warm water. Moisturise with some extra coconut oil after the shower.

Coffee Body Scrub

1/2 cup ground coffee
1/4 cup coconut sugar (or other type of sugar)
3/4 cup melted or soft virgin cold-pressed coconut oil.

Mix together all ingredients with a spoon. Keep in a lidded glass jar in room temperature.
