Green Liquorice Smoothie

Green smoothies are among my absolute favourite things, and this one with a liquorice flavour is incredible! My fellow liquorice lovers will hopefully love this smoothie as much as I do. To make a big green morning smoothie has become a weekly Saturday and Sunday routine for me, and it's probably my favourite weekend habit. A slow and calm weekend breakfast is happiness! Usually I make my smoothie a bit thicker than in the recipe below (3/4 cup liquid instead of 1 cup) and eat it from a bowl with lots of toppings. You could also use frozen banana for an even creamier consistency. Check out my instagram for more smoothie inspiration.

The idea with green smoothies is to make a regular fruit smoothie but with the addition of some kind of greens to make it even more nutritious. My favourite is baby spinach since it has a very mild taste. I also like to use kale when in season here in Sweden. In this recipe I also added a small piece of zucchini for some extra green power. If you're unaccustomed to green smoothies, you could start off with less greens and/or more banana.

Green Liquorice Smoothie

Serves 1-2

1 cup plant milk (I used oat milk)
1 tbsp hulled hemp seeds
2-3 big handfuls of baby spinach
1 tsp liquorice root powder
1/2 squeezed lemon
2 bananas
1/4 zucchini

1. Begin with blending the milk with the hemp seeds and spinach. Then add the rest of the ingredients and blend again until smooth. Cheers!
